Michael Marshall began his hairdressing development in Newark in 1989 working as a saturday assistant when he was 14 years old. His passionate and dedicated service towards his customers has developed a loyal client base which over the years has grown astronomical. Michael has also gained valuable experience from the best salons in London, abroad and also locally.
MJM Hair Design was founded in 1998 and became a limited company in 2001. Michael`s first salon was opened in Newark, in March 2003, with the support of joint salon owner and director Louise Marshall bringing with her a vast knowledge of technical and business skills. Over the years the salon has won many competitions, both locally and nationally by demonstrating their exceptional hairdressing skills and creative talents. Each member of the team has multiple years of experience within the industry, and as a team can offer the full range of hairdressing needs, whether artistic or more technically biased. These skills are also used to the full in training new members of staff, through courses affiliated to Getahead Training College.
Our salon is committed to supporting the local community by sponsoring events in Newark and the surrounding area. In 2005 we opened our first barbershop, filling a niche in the male grooming market. In the year 2008, many things started to change with both salons. The first being the complete name change of the male grooming salon which is now known as The MushRoom. The second most significant change was the closure of the MJM salon on carter gate, Newark.
This was due to the opening of a new salon just of Newark market place on Saracens head yard, called Marshall and Co Hairdressing, M.A.C. for short. Due to the ongoing success and brand new surroundings of the new salon, the management decided recently to close the male grooming salon, The MushRoom, and combine the business with Marshall and Co at the new premises. The intention is to replicate the atmosphere and quality previously associated with The MushRoom and further compliment the skills of everyone within Marshall and Co. Now in 2009, we can faithfully offer the people visiting our establishment the promise of quality and tailored services with value for money and exceptional satisfaction.
